Since 1999,  Rhythms of the City has been the F-IRE Collective's beating heart, a street percussion band where teachers, professionals and students learn and play alongside one another. Together with star singers, dancers, horn section and guitars, the band presents powerful music played on Brazilian drums -from classic samba and samba-reggae, to its own unique and revolutionary developments in samba-funk, samba-hip-hop and even soca and salsa!

Rotc has played in carnivals, festivals and clubs all over the UK and also in Wales, Scotland Ireland, Spain and France...

 - Notting Hill Carnival, Belfast Carnival, Thames Festival, Carnival del Pueblo - Womad, Glastonbury, Big Chill, Respect, Fruitstock, Lovebox, Wireless, Pride  - Emirates Stadium, O2, Eden Project, Cargo, Shepherd's Bush Empire, Twickenham and many more

...and alongside Friendly Fires, Jamie Cullum, Mystro, Osvaldo Chacón, the members of Monobloco and their lead singer Fabio Allman.

Rhythms of the City has recorded for the BBC and Channel 4, including appearances on the Culture Show and Watchdog. A library CD of pure rhythm has been released by BMG and their stunning first album is out on the F-IRE label

The band appears regularly with Friendly Fires and Mystro, featuring on Friendly Fires' single Kiss of Life, and has a residency at London's prestigious Guanabara club.
