 Last Chance Disco

With their legions of fans including discerning types from  Scott Walker andSupergrass  to The Mighty Boosh and Chris Morris, experiencing Acoustic Ladyland comes highly recommended...

"Acoustic Ladyland appear to have invented new laws of music by drawing on the visceral extremes of both jazz and rock, diluting neither… Tremendous" (5/5) The Guardian

"One of London's most consistently jaw-dropping live acts… they're on blistering, beautiful form"Evening Standard

Bonding over a mutual distaste for musical sterility and an inclination toward the more exciting and dangerous end of modern music, Acoustic Ladyland have been blowing minds since their inception in 2001. The band is Pete Wareham (saxophone/vocals) with Seb Rochford (drums), Ruth Goller (bass) and Tom Cawley (keys).

The album Last Chance Disco, released in 2005, was so well received it earnt them not only a nomination for Time Out's Live Act of the Year Award, Jazzwise Magazine's Album of the Year for the second year running, the BBC Jazz Award for Best Band and a raft of four and five-star reviews from a startlingly wide range of music journalists, but also a coveted spot on Later with Jools and the general consensus that a new wave of anarchic, highly-charged British music had been born. Nobody could decide whether it was jazz or punk or what, but in the end everybody realised that names are irrelevant : just shut up and dance!

"When was the last time a jazz record made you want to pogo like a lunatic or made you laugh out loud?"The  DailyTelegraph

"Where low-brow and highbrow collide in a car crash hybrid of punk and jazz, the music of Acoustic Ladyland is thrillingly disrespectful." (4/5) Mojo

Upon signing to V2 records the band released their next album Skinny Grin in December 2006 which again received thunderous critical acclaim from Kerrang! to Jazzwise and everyone in between. The emergence of vocals and the appearance of  guests James Chance and Coco Electrik, along with the production of Scott Walker, Paul Epworth and Robert Harder enabled the band to further develop their crossover potential, their single 'Cuts and Lies' receiving much airplay on BBC Radio 6, XFM, playlist on Paris' Radio Nova, and was used in Yves Saint-Laurent's Paris fashion show.

 "I can recommend Acoustic Ladyland's Skinny Grin… it's an outstanding release"Scott Walker

"Deliciously delirious… fierce and serene, fluent and fractured… this album is pretty damned exciting"  Paul Morley5/5 OMM

"The most refreshingly original album of the year" 4.5/5 The Sun

Since Skinny Grin the band have toured and recorded a live album - 'A.L.ive' and are now half way through recording their fourth studio album. Various members of the band have recently recorded and performed with Supergrass, Brian Eno,David Byrne,  Mercury-nominees Polar Bear and  Basquiat StringsDennis Hopper Choppers, Curios, Fulborn Teverhsam, Normal Gimbel, Big Dave,  and The FInal Terror.
