Uniaoda Mocidade (Union of Youth) is one of the only youth samba projects in the U.K to specialise Rio style samba - the carnival music of Rio de Janeiro's 'Escolas do Samba' (Samba schools). We work in partnership with schools in the London Boroughs of Westminster, Brent, Haringey, Harrow and Hillingdon to run percussion and dance classes in six schools across London. This project created in 2003 has now an established performing group whose past performances include the Luton International Carnival, Coin Street Festival, Brighton Samba Encounter, Ealing Jazz Festival and the Mayor of London's RESPECT Festival as well as carnivals which are local to the schools we work in.
Our highly professional team of teachers are specialists in the field of traditional Rio Samba. They are selected not only for their skills as performers and teachers but for their excellent communication and mentoring skills and experience of working with young people both in the UK and Brazil.
