His first instrument was violin and then at 15 he took up the guitar. Jonny's main project for the last 5 years has been "Oriole" featuring fellow F-ire members Ben Davis, Seb Rochford, Ingrid Laubrock and Nick Ramm as well as Brazilian musicians Fernando De Marco, Adriano Adewale Itauna, Afonso Corea and Teco Cardoso amongst others. Another notable Oriole guest has been singer Julia Biel who Jonny also collaborated with on her first album "Not Alone".
Jonny now lives in the birth place of the guitar, Cadiz, southern Spain, but this year will be seen migrating to the UK and to Portugal to perform. Of course there will be various performances in Spain also.
His other groups include "Quarteto de Colores" with Paul Clarvis, Sonia Slaney and Mark Hodgson, "Oriole Brazil" featuring "Teco Cardoso and various members of Oriole, "Amber Lights" featuring Bruno Malguillo and Dan Hueston. Two recording are at present half completed with Oriole and Cuarteto de Colores.
