Originally from Aberdeen, since winning the 2004 BBC Jazz Award for Rising Star Seb has been referred to as jazz's most in-demand drummer. His influences range from Napalm Death to Prince and contemporary electronica including large dose of jazz along the way. Rochford leads Polar Bear as well as working with Juliet Kelly, Tim Richards and Pete Wareham's Acoustic Ladyland. He also appears in various alt. rock bands such as Menlo Park and Paul the Girl and leads the electro-acoustic quartet Fulborn Teversham. Polar Bear were nominated for both the Mercury Music Prize 2005 and the BBC Jazz Award Best Band 2005.
