Fred Thomas

Born into a musical family in 1985, multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger Fred Thomas studied jazz piano at the Royal Academy of Music. As a member of the F-IRE collective, he now performs regularly with a variety of creative projects:

Ensemble Nuevo Tango (double-bass)
Bubblerag & the Wavytones (percussion)

Fred has also appeared and recorded with musicians such as Oren Marshall, Horacio Icasto, Iarla O Lionaird, Leo Abrahams, Phil Robson, Mark Lockheart, Gerard Presencer, Jason Yarde, Julian Siegel, Eduardo Vassallo, Nick Weldon, Barack Schmool, Christine Tobin, Billy Jenkins. As well as having appeared in UK venues such as Symphony Hall and Town Hall (Birmingham), CBSO Centre, Warwick Arts Centre, Purcell Room, The Spitz, Ronnie Scott's, The 606 Club, Cargo, St. Luke's, and The Vortex, Fred has toured worldwide with Mor Karbasi, Jiri Slavik, Madrid-based Ensemble Nuevo Tango and others groups. Fred has performed with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO), and has recorded the following albums in the last few years:
