Percussion, vocals
A full-time Londoner since 1991, Italian born Maurizio Ravalico studied congas and bata drums in La Havana, Cuba. His solo production reveals an inquisitive spirit and a compelling drive towards new and radical approaches to music. His album "Accommodating Gods" released in 1998 with drummer Davide Giovannini, is still talked about as one of the most important works for percussion music to come out of the UK in the nineties, while more recently (2005), on the "ezzthetic_ep", realised with Ezzthetic, Maurizio explores new possibilities of dialogue between percussion instruments and electronics. Maurizio is now developing a particular interest in free-form musical improvisation and his ongoing collaborations in this field are with the world-class tuba player Oren Marshall and with electronic musician Isambard Khroustaliov. Maurizio has also worked with Jamiroquai, The James Taylor Quartet, Jesus Alemani, Snowboy, Alex Wilson, Tumbaito, Herman Oliveira, Paul McCartney, Paul Young, Dennis Rollins, Kaidi Tatham, Dego McFarland, and he is a regular member of Dele Sosimi's Afrobeat Ensemble, Barak Schmool's Meta Meta.
