Brigitte Beraha [vocals]
Ivo Neame [piano]
Phil Donkin [bass]
George Hart [drums]
It all started when Brigitte got Ivo Neame, Phil Donkin and George Hart to play for her final recital at the Guildhall School of Music in 2002, where they performed a mix of Jazz standards and original material. After receiving very positive feedback on her tunes and the ensemble she knew she had a project forming. But it wasn't until 2006, after having released her first album of Jazz Standards and hearing Joe Auckland play for the band Oboto in which she often guested, that she knew she had the perfect group to write for and sing with. After gigging for about a year, and occasionally using the bassless and drumless formation for a more open sound (with which they toured for three weeks in June 2007), they decided to record an album which would feature both the quintet and the trio.
"Brigitte's voice and writing have truly matured to another soaring level" (Rufus Reid)
"A Fine Composer." (Kenny Wheeler)"Brigitte is someone who concentrates on the music's core values: imagination, individuality, improvisation" (Jazz Review)
